Founding Director of Planit Consulting, Boyd Sargeant, offers skills and experience critical to the successful resolution of major development projects in both the private and government sectors. Boyd applies detailed interpretations of local planning schemes and State and Federal legislation to all projects.

Whether it’s the provision of town planning and environmental advice, the coordination of planning services within local or State government or as an expert witness to the Planning and Environment Court, Boyd has both the knowledge and ability to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Boyd has dual qualifications with a Masters of Urban Planning and a degree in Science (Australian Environmental Studies). As an expert in developing appropriate management policies for planning and environmental issues, he has been recognised with appointments to various State and local government committees and private boards.

He has served on the School of Environmental Planning Professional Advisory Board for Griffith University and is currently an executive of the Gold Coast Combined Chamber of Commerce, a member of City of Gold Coast’s Broadbeach Advisory Committee and a member of the Waverley Council Development Assessment Panel (Sydney, New South Wales).

Boyd Sargeant has recently been conditionally accepted for appointment to the Land Court of Queensland Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR) Panel. Boyd has also been approved for appointment as an independent expert to an Independent Hearing and Assessment (IHAP) Panel (panel) under the relevant provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. IHAPs are to become mandatory for all councils in Sydney and for Wollongong City Council from the 1st March 2018. Boyd Sargeant has also successfully completed the New South Wales Biodiversity Offset Scheme training and Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) training and is now a accredited assessors for the new BAM process.
