International marine precinct

Planit was engaged to assist in the preparation of necessary reports and applications in order to establish a mixed-use marine industry precinct. Planit led a large consultancy team for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) as a result of the project being declared as a State-significant ‘Coordinated Project’ by the Queensland Coordinator General.

In addition to the preparation of the EIS, Planit’s role included preparing the necessary reports and applications under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999 and Land Act 1994. Planit was also commissioned to prepare and project manage the subsequent development applications. This included a Preliminary Approval application to vary the local planning scheme which would formalise the recommendations of the Coordinator General’s Evaluation Report.

On completion, this project will result in a high-quality, innovative, and diverse marine industry precinct that caters to the core boat building industry, while facilitating other ancillary and associated businesses such as supply chain industries and food outlets for workers and visitors. The project will not only enhance the local marine industry but will provide a significant economic boost to the Gold Coast region.
