Planit Consulting supported Tweed Shire Council in securing approvals for the Tweed Coast Road Improvements Project – Sections 5 and 6, a key infrastructure upgrade between Chinderah and Cudgen.
The project will deliver important road, service and environmental improvements to enhance safety, capacity and connectivity along one of Tweed’s busiest coastal corridors, while supporting future growth in surrounding areas including Kings Forest and West Kingscliff.
Our Role
Planit led the planning and environmental approvals process, coordinating a multidisciplinary team to deliver:
- Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Review of Environmental Factors (REF)
- Ecological and biodiversity assessments, including offset strategy development
- Coordination of technical inputs including traffic, noise, flooding and cultural heritage
- Community and stakeholder engagement
- Ongoing environmental and statutory planning advice under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016

Outcome
The project successfully achieved environmental and planning approvals, enabling Tweed Shire Council to progress to construction tender.
Planit’s integrated approach ensured environmental, social and infrastructure outcomes were balanced, supporting the delivery of safer and more connected infrastructure for Tweed’s growing coastal communities.
